reDesign 2012 Update

Chosen by popular demand, our modern upholstered “Eames DSW” chair will be reinvented as a colorful deep-sea creature – the jellyfish.  We have started the process by painting silk fabric with vibrant liquid dye and are ready to move on to our next task - creating tentacles and upholstering the surface of the sea jelly.

reDesign 2012

Creative Matters will be participating in the Textile Museum of Canada’s second annual reDesign 2012.  This year, the event will take place on Wednesday November 7th at Hazelton Lanes in Yorkville, Toronto.
We have been invited, along with an eclectic group of Toronto-based artists, architects and designers to reimagine, reinvent and restyle a modernistic upholstered "Eames DSW" chair provided by MORBA, a Queen West business.  All chairs will be auctioned off the night of the gala, with proceeds in support of The Textile Museum of Canada’s exhibitions, collections and public programs.  The Textile Museum of Canada is dedicated to the collection and exhibition of Textiles.
The photo below shows the upholstered ultramodern chair we will be working on.  Please stay tuned to see the finished product or come out to the Gala on November 7th!

NYICS Makes Room for Creative Matters!

We have decided to increase our space at the New York International Carpet Show, taking place in the Fall, in order to include a brand new Art Day rug (#396)!  The rug is still in the process of being made and we are extremely excited to unveil the finished product for the first time at NYICS.
